American Legion Post 0146 Membership Meeting March 10, 2025
Commander Gary Gladue conducted opening ceremonies and declared the Post 146 monthly meeting regularly convened at 17:35
Roll call was taken, quorum was met.
The Charter was draped in memory of Gerald M. Bertrand.
The February Minutes were approved as corrected.
Commander Gladue presented the Executive Committee Report: Quorum was not met. We discussed air conditioner quotes. Need to get some updated quotes and then vote by text. We voted by text between the February meeting and this one to discontinue financial support for the Red Waves as they are no longer participating in American Legion Baseball. Discussed upcoming sick leave requirement.
Kurt Lepinski read correspondence: Announcement of Celebration of Vietnam War Veterans Day from M&M Veterans in Need - March 29. Menominee Hoops Club asking for support in making their Jamboree a success – April 5th.
Greg Furmanski presented the Finance Report. Jan Lepinski moved “to accept the finance report subject to audit.”
Kurt Lepinski gave the membership report: 362 of 376 for 96.28% of goal.
Mike Cutaiar gave Bar Report: IRS payment due 15 April, License renewal coming soon. Had 62 people for the Sweetheart dance so we made a profit. Pot Luck and Smear tournament went well.
Gary Scholtz gave the House Committee Report. Waiting for Brian to help with electrical for Snack Shack. Women’s bathroom floor is looking good now.
Julie Ericson gave the Auxiliary report: Membership is at 96.95% of goal. Started doing Taco Tuesday in conjunction with Queen of Hearts.
Deborah Knernschield gave the Service Officer Report: May 14 is the 2nd annual Veteran Resource Fair at the Pullman Center.
Commander Gladue gave the Activities report: March 15-Smear Tournament, March 26-Pot Luck, April 12-Smear Tournament, April 26-Chili Cook-off, April 30-Pot Luck, May 14-Veterans Resource Fair, May 26 Memorial Day, May 31-Heads Up Derby (Pond at 38th Ave),June – Kids Derby at the Marina, 14 June-Blessing of the bikes, 4th of July, July 8-Blood Drive,26-27 July-Brown Trout Derby, Aug 9-M&M Car Show, September-suicide prevention. 21 June UP District Convention.
Unfinished Business: Wally discussed the baseball situation, girl’s HS softball, boy’s HS baseball, and Menominee Youth Baseball. Mike Cutaiar moved “to support Menominee youth baseball, girl’s HS softball, and boy’s HS baseball with a donation of $300 each.” The motion was adopted. Wally to investigate costs for fence signage for the different teams and who to make the donation checks out to. We have paid our district dues. Gary investigating new flags for street display.
New Business: Election Committee Chairman is Mike Cutaiar. There is a new post audit form. Newsletter committee is Steve Fifarek, Jan Lepinski, and Julie Ericson. James Kolky won the drawing.
