Membership Meeting
February 10, 2025

Commander Gary Gladue conducted opening ceremonies and declared the Post 146 monthly meeting regularly convened at 17:30

Roll call was taken, quorum was met.

The Charter was draped in memory of Edward G. Smith.

The January Minutes were approved as printed.

Commander Gladue gave the Executive Committee Report. There were no motions as there was not a quorum. Discussed Post Credit card, Legion Baseball program, Queen of Hearts program, Legion Riders’ account, clarification of Legion Building Rental. Mike Cutaiar moved “to accept the Executive Committee report.” The motion was adopted.

The Finance Report was printed and available. The finance officer and family were sick. Commander Gladue answered questions on the report. Wally Durow moved “to accept the Finance Report.” The motion was adopted.

Mike Cutaiar gave the Bar Report: Business is slow, Smear Tournament 15 Feb, Sweetheart Dinner 22 Feb, Potluck 26 Feb.

Wally Durow gave the Athletics report. Discussion on Red Wave leaving Legion Baseball.

Rick Baldwin gave the Legion Riders report: Blessing of the Bikes 14 June. All Legion Riders in the U.P. have been invited.

Steve Van Eyck gave the SAL report: 125 members, 14 new. John Pickard is working with the SAL in Menominee. SAL is 100% behind newsletter.

Gary Scholtz gave the House Committee report: An inspector came in and looked at the AC and will be giving an estimate. Only 3 people are taking care of snow removal and they could use some help. Women’s bathroom floor work will start 16 Feb.

Activities: Bill Paris is planning a Chili Cookoff 22 March. 15 March Smear tournament

Julie Ericson gave the Auxiliary Report: 240 members 91.6% of goal. Partnering with the Back Pack program every Friday.

Unfinished Business: Newsletter discussion. Jan Lepinski Legion Representative, Julie Erickson Auxiliary Representative. April 1st newsletter publication. Vote on Constitution change Article VI-Officers, Section 2, to remove “, and may serve up to two consecutive years”. Vote was unanimous in favor of change.

New Business: Next month is Election Committee selection. The committee chairman is appointed and that person will choose committee members. Nominations will be made in April with the election in May. Installation in June. 21 June will be UP Summer Convention (Zone 5 Legion Family) at our Post. Memorial Service 20 June. Celebration of life for Ed Smith 16 Feb 3-6, church service 13 Feb 11:45 at Resurrection Church. Membership card to be shown at the bar every visit. The Liquor Commission visited recently and the only way we can prove we are serving only members is if they have their membership card. All Post Bartenders need to be up to date with training, Post will pay for class and 3 hours pay to take the class. Lee Greenwood won the pot.
