American Legion Post 0146 Membership Meeting January 13, 2025
Commander Gary Gladue conducted opening ceremonies and declared the Post 146 monthly meeting regularly convened at 17:34
Roll call was taken, quorum was met.
The Charter was draped in memory of Pete Madden.
The December Minutes were approved as printed.
Commander Gladue gave the Executive Committee Report. Motions made in committee include Bartender training, Giving Wendy a raise to match the other bartenders, and to apply for special liquor licenses for two upcoming events. Jan Lepinski moved “to accept the Executive Committee Report.” Gary Scholtz Seconded. The motion was adopted.
Greg Furmanski gave the Finance Report. Jan Lepinski moved “to accept the finance report subject to audit.” Wally seconded. The motion was adopted.
Kurt Lepinski gave the Membership report: 325 renewed of a goal of 376 for 86.44%.
Mike Cutaiar gave the Bar Report: There was a state inspection and it was noted we need to obtain an entertainment license and update the bartender training.
Wally Durow gave the Athletics report. There are some issues with Legion Baseball and there will be more to report in February.
Gary Scholtz gave the House Committee report: The pressure regulator will be going in this week. Have an estimate on air conditioning, will be obtaining more estimates. The air filter has been changed. Women’s bathroom floor replacement scheduled for late February.
Julie Ericson gave the Auxiliary report: Christmas ball raffle went well.
Commander Gladue listed the upcoming activities: Jan 18 - Smear tournament, Jan 25-Jamboree, Feb 15–Smear tournament, Feb 22–Sweetheart dinner, Mar 15–Smear tournament, Mar 22–Chili cook-off, Apr 12–Smear tournament, Apr 26-Mardi Gras Party, May 26-Memorial Day Breakfast. Queen of Hearts raffle starts Feb 18th
Correspondence: Thank You card from the Menominee High School Culinary Arts Class for assisting them with their pumpkin roll fundraiser.
Unfinished Business: by-laws amendments presented last meeting and previously posted were discussed and approved. The website has been updated with the by-law revisions.
New Business: Kurt Lepinski read the Adjutant’s column from the January 2025 Michigan Legionnaire regarding the membership dues and the membership year. Commander Gladue gave a summary of the newsletter proposal from Steve Fifarek. Adjutant to provide the mailing list for SAL, Legion. Lee Greenwood won the pot.
